Where Confidence Grows

Primary To Secondary Transition

Each year we offer support to Year 6 students who are due to move to Wilmslow High School. We help to identify students where emerging mental and emotional health issues could make the move an extra challenge.

Our aim is to offer early help, so that each young person can have the best start to secondary school. As part of this project we offer:

Wellbeing groups

We work with small groups of children who might find the move to secondary school particularly challenging. These sessions help them process their worries and other underlying issues. This group support then continues once the children have moved up to Year 7.

Whole Class Sessions

90 minute workshop for all Year 6 students, helping them to unpack their hopes, fears and expectations for secondary school.

ROC CAFE VISITS

Invitational visit for Year 6 students to ROC Cafe during the school day, where they can meet the Wilmslow Youth team, explore the cafe, and learn about all the exciting activities and groups available to them when they start Year 7.

one to one support

If, during small group sessions, more complex issues emerge for some children, they then have access to one-to-one support from a Wilmslow Youth counsellor.

If you are a member of staff at a primary school and would like to chat to us about offering this service to your year 6 students, please get in touch using our contact form.
