our story

We are a youth charity based in Wilmslow, Cheshire. Our work began in 2016 as a joint project between local churches to meet the needs of local young people and build a healthy community to which they can belong. This included the renovation project for the Undercroft at Wilmslow URC, a state of the art community facility which local young people helped to design, and which is now the base for our work.

In 2019, Wilmslow Youth became a charity. We still work in close partnership with Wilmslow United Reformed Church and Life Church Wilmslow, both of whom started this work and still support it generously.

We now provide free, early intervention, mental health support for young people aged 11-18 and their parents, and strive to not just provide a service for young people, but to create an environment in which they can thrive. For that reason, our counselling and mentoring provisions are supported by wrap-around support groups, drop-in cafe spaces, and community activities that promote healthy social interaction and break down stigmas around mental illness though various forms of group work, media, workshops and activities.

We also offer support for those who care for young people; be it parents, teachers, social workers or community members, we offer courses and training that help to build networks of support around young people in our area.

As a charity, we have always worked in close partnership with our community. We work alongside our friends at Wilmslow Health Centre, CHAW Care Community, Wilmslow High School, and other fantastic charities such as Just-Drop In from Macclesfield.
